A delegation from Zarubezhneftegaz, a subsidiary of Russian Oil and Gas giant Gazprom headed by Shevchenq Eduard, has expressed its desire to invest in Pakistan's oil and gas sector during a meeting with Pakistan's Petroleum and Natural Resources Minister Amanullah Jadoon, says an official statement. Eduard briefed the Minister about Gazprom-Zarubezhneftegaz worldwide activities in the oil and gas sector and expressed keenness to participate in the oil and gas exploration, setting up gas storage, LNG projects besides taking part in the privatization of public sector oil and gas entities in Pakistan. He told the Minister that Gazprom-Zarubezhneftegaz recently entered into agreement with Pakistan's Shehzad International Group of Companies to work together as a joint venture in the oil and gas activities. Eduard said that the joint venture will invest in the pipeline projects, development of petroleum untapped areas, supply of equipment, high-tech material to boost output of oil and gas sector, services for exploration and production companies, CNG and LNG projects. Welcoming the delegation, the Minister said that the government was much excited to welcome the Russian cooperation in the oil and gas sector, which had rich experiences in that field. He said President Musharraf's visit to Moscow had opened up new avenues of bilateral interaction in diversified fields particularly in the oil and gas sector. Jadoon said Russian Gazprom-Zarubezhneftegaz investment in Pakistan's petroleum sector would go a long way to bring the two countries closer. They discussed the investment opportunities in the petroleum sector particularly construction of gas storage, CNG, LNG and pipeline projects.
