The World Bank's executive board on Thursday unanimously approved the nomination of Paul Wolfowitz to lead the organization that funds projects in developing countries. Wolfowitz, 61, currently is U.S. deputy secretary of defence and was one of the main architects of the U.S.-led war in Iraq. His reputation as a hardliner initially caused some concern, especially in Europe, after U.S. President George W. Bush nominated him to run the World Bank. ---SP 2316 Local Time 2016 GMT
