Japan Extends $7.6 million grant to Pakistan's University

The Government of Japan has given $7.6 million grant to Pakistan's Allama Iqbal Open University (AIOU), Islamabad to enhance its educational facilities, according to an official statement issued here today.
Japanese Ambassador in Islamabad Nobuaki Tanaka and Pakistan's Economic Affairs Division Secretary Shuja Shah signed the exchange of notes.
Speaking on the occasion, Tanaka said Japan had been focusing on supporting the field of science and education. Recently, more stress has been laid on promotion of primary and secondary education, he added.
