The Pakitan government will construct a hospital in Kabul at an estimated cost of Rs 1.200 billion, which will be equipped with modern facilities. A contract signing ceremony was held in this regard between the Governments of Pakistan and Afghanistan in Islamabad, according to an official statement. National Logistic Cell Commander Brig Nisar Ahmed Mir and Brig (retd) Anjum Saeed signed the agreement on behalf of the Pakistan government. Afghanistan Embassy First Secretary Syed Maluk Fakhar was also present on the occasion. Details of the Jinnah Hospital were given. Pakistan has committed $300 million for the reconstruction and rehabilitation of Afghanistan. The planned three-story hospital would have a capacity of 200 beds with an expansion space available for 400 beds. The Government of Afghanistan has allocated 25 acres of land for this purpose. The hospital would have a 50-bed Thalassemia centre, a dialysis centre, and surgical wards in addition to other facilities. Its design has been prepared by Pakistan s NESPAK in consultation with Afghanistan s Health Ministry. The hospital construction contract has been awarded to Pakistan s National Logistics Cell, which is also constructing the Allama Iqbal Faculty Block at the Kabul University, the Sir Syed Post Graduate Science Faculty Block at the Nangarhar University, Jalalabad, the Liaquat Ali Khan Engineering Faculty Block at the Bulkh University, Mazar-e-Sharif and the Nishtar Kidney Centre in Jalalabad. After completion, the government of Pakistan will supply all necessary equipment for the hospital.
