Dr. Mustafa bin Jamil Baljoun, Director General of the Saudi Red Crescent Authority (SRCA) in Makkah Region, has announced plans and programs to increase readiness in all ambulance centers in the Holy Mosque of Makkah and the central region during the upcoming Ramadan season. In addition to motorcycle teams in the central region, Baljoun noted that the authority has introduced bicycle teams with 20 bicycles this season to provide quick access to emergency cases and ambulance services to patients and wounded persons while they await treatment. The SRCA has also included disaster vehicles in its plan, such as the disaster bus (Tuwaiq), which can accommodate ten injuries and is equipped with full medical supplies and integrated first aid kits. Another vehicle, the disaster vehicle (Hadaj), contains 45 oxygen cylinders and 10 first aid kits and can serve multiple injuries. The SRCA also has a medical consumables vehicle (Sanad), as well as a command and control vehicle (Thuraya) with a miniature operating room inside that, can be used to monitor the event and manage ambulance teams' capacity to send and receive emergency notifications.
