JEDDAH — Prince Khaled Al-Faisal, the emir of Makkah and adviser to the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, inaugurated the electronic first aid system for the Saudi Red Crescent Authority (SRCA) in the Makkah region at a ceremony held at his emirate office here on Thursday. The function was attended by SRCA chairman Dr. Jalal Al-Owaisi and director-general of the SRCA branch in Makkah region Dr. Khaled Al-Habashi. Speaking on the occasion, Al-Owaisi said that the system aims to reduce the response time to start rescue operations upon information about accidents and other incidents. The system enables the rescue teams to deal quickly with the incoming information to the operation rooms and link them with the medical facilities and hospitals, which receive emergency cases. This program of advanced electronic systems will manage the authority's field emergency medical services in a quicker way, he said. This smart system would contribute to develop ambulance services following the highest international standards, and to ensure a speedy response to emergency cases, in addition to enabling the operations system to see the readiness of the ambulance teams and receive new reports and accept or cancel them. It also enables us to draw the best paths to the location of the reported cases and linking them with the medical facilities to make urgent preparations to receive emergency cases. It is noteworthy that the number of medical facilities linked to the electronic first aid system in the Makkah region is more than 50 medical facilities, while the number of emergency centers in the region is more than 95 and these are equipped with the latest medical technologies.
