At least 21 workers were charred to death and 30 others injured when a fire broke out in a garment factory near the Bangladeshi capital on Friday. The Press Trust of India quoted Fire Brigade officials as saying that nearly 400 workers were inside the factory at nearby Narayanganj district when the blaze started. While 21 workers were killed, 30 others, including fire brigade personnel, were injured. The cause of the fire is not yet known. The blaze has been brought under control but the factory has been badly damaged, they said. Earlier, one person was killed and four others were missing in a major fire that gutted a slum in Demrea area on Friday. Hundreds of families have been rendered homeless by the blaze, officials said.
