Saudi newspapers highlighted in their editorials today a number of issues at local, regional and international arenas. Al-Bilad newspaper said in its editorial that the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia holds numerous meetings with the United Nations officials and many leaders of countries in order to move forward in the political solution to end the Yemeni crisis. In this regard, Riyadh is exerting great efforts through the Kingdom's initiative to end the crisis in Yemen. Additionally, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia's initiative was welcomed and supported by many countries around, since it reflects the Saudi government's keenness for the security and stability of Yemen and the region as well as alleviating the suffering of the brotherly Yemeni people. The newspaper added that the importance of the Saudi initiative is demonstrated in the fact that it presents the actual endeavors of the Houthi militia and those who support them to the Yemeni people and the international community. It also presents who actually reject peace efforts and insist on the continuation of the war. The wide international commendation that the initiative received also comes in recognition of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia's efforts to achieve stability in the region, the paper added. In this regard, the Secretary-General of the Gulf Cooperation Council Dr. Nayef Al-Hajjraf, and UN envoy to Yemen Martin Griffiths, during a meeting held recently in the Saudi capital, Riyadh, called on the international community to pressure the terrorist Houthi militias to prioritize Yemen's interest and respond to the Saudi peace initiative, the newspaper concluded. In a similar context, Al-Yaum newspaper reported in its editorial that the recent hostile attempted attack by the terrorist Houthi militia with an explosive-laden boat, south of the Red Sea, where the forces of Coalition to Restore Legitimacy in Yemen have succeeded in thwarting and confronting it, affirms that Iran-backed terrorist Houthi militia continues to threaten maritime shipping lines and global trade. The newspaper added that those practices, which are a flagrant challenge to international charters and laws, constitute cowardly terrorist acts and represent a serious threat to the movement of international trade, security and peace. The newspaper concluded that the international community and the UN Security Council have to take a firm stand to deter these terrorist practices that undermine the security and stability of the region and the world, as Iran stands behind and plays a fundamental role in these attempts by providing weapons and missiles to the Houthi militia to carry out more attacks and crimes.
