German police arrested three Iraqi terror suspects Friday in coordinated raids during a visit by Iraqi Prime Minister Ayad Allawi to Berlin, prosecutors said. Police raided nine buildings in three states, including Berlin, the Federal Prosecutor's Office said in a statement. The statement did not elaborate and the prosecutor's office had no additional comment. Word of the arrests came as Allawi met with Gerhard Schroeder at the chancellor's office, part of a short visit in which the Iraqi premier plans to press Germany for more reconstruction help. Security was heavy. The entire downtown area around the chancellery was blocked off and police guarded the streets and watched from rooftops. The early-morning raids were carried out by federal prosecutors and state police from Berlin, Baden-Wuerttemberg and Bavaria. Buildings in Berlin, Stuttgart and Augsburg were searched, prosecutors said.
