Police arrested two Filipinos and one Bangladeshi man for operating a gambling network in crowded Jeddah downtown Monday. The raid on the lottery den netted many other foreign workers who were attracted to the game by operators who sold lottery tickets in the streets. Police patrols noticed one of the operators with a suspicious-looking black suitcase that was later found to be full of lottery tickets. When they approached him, he ran away and disappeared into the crowds of shoppers. Policemen were dispatched to the area to search for the suspect who was found to have taken refuge in a small budget hotel in the area. The police raided the hotel and arrested seven gamers who were holding their cards and waiting for the next move to play. The police found a list of gamers and lottery ticket, and other gambling forms. The ring leaders, who worked for high commission from winners, operated their illegal business from a small office in the basement of the hotel. The network was found to be connected with organized gambling games outside the Kingdom. The networks members were detained at the Jeddah Downtown Police Station for further investigation.
