The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, represented by the Communications and Information Technology Commission (CITC), has chaired the Regional Preparatory Meeting for the World Telecommunication Development Conference 2021 (WTDC-21), in the presence of Director of the Telecommunication Development Bureau at the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) Doreen Bogdan-Martin, and more than 300 representatives from the ITU member states and the private sector as well as the academic institutions from different countries around the world. The preparatory meeting aims to promote discussions among the six regions of the ITU (Arab states, Americas, Africa, Asia, the Pacific, Commonwealth of Independent States and Europe), identify the common positions, and agree on the main issues before holding the conference. During the meeting, the outcomes of the work teams of the Telecommunication Development Advisory Group (TDAG) concerned with the preparations for the World Telecommunication Development Conference, the strategic and operational plans, as well as the conference decisions, declarations and priorities were reviewed.
