STC was involved in the activities of the sixth World Telecommunications Development Conference (WTDC-14) organized by the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) every four years and attended by government and private communication and information technology officials across the world. In the speech delivered at the conference, Engineer Abdullah bin Abdulaziz Al Darrab, Governor of the Communications and Information Technology Commission, discussed the contributions of Saudi Arabia to the ITU since it joined the Union in 1949 and its membership of Board of Directors in 1965. This conference which is held now in Dubai is a forum for discussing topics that focus on the telecommunications and information technology sector development priorities and to agree on projects and initiatives for implementation. The main focus of the conference and broad banner was “Broadband for sustained development. The most substantial outcomes of the conference was adoption of and development of an action plan for developing the world telecommunications and information technology sector in the next four years. STC was represented in the conference by a specialist delegation within the official Saudi telecom sector delegation. Participation in this important forum is a chance for STC employees to closely review the ITU strategic plans in the next four years and the projects and programs it will execute at the world level generally and the Arab region in particular which would positively reflected on STC long term strategies. It also represents an opportunity for the company leaders to meet their counterparts in other organizations across the world and open communication channels with them.
