Dr. Abdulaziz Al-Ruwais, Governor of the Communications and Information Technology Commission (CITC), inaugurated here today the preparatory meetings, to lay ground for the plenipotentiaries conference, in the presence of the Secretary General of the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) Houlin Zhao and representatives of the six regions, namely, Africa, the Americas, Arab countries, Asia, the Pacific, Europe and the Commonwealth of Independent States. Dr. Ruwais welcomed the delegations, stressing the importance of the meetings as a platform for exchanging views on the conference and discussing points of view on the topics set to be dealt with. He pointed out that the conference will discuss important topics such as artificial intelligence and its role in achieving the objectives of sustainable development, as well as international policies related to the Internet, calling on all participants to make the best use of the meetings, to make the coming conference a success.
