A roadside bomb blast on Thursday in the South Waziristan tribal region killed six Pakistani soldiers and injured six others, some seriously, an army official said. An army truck hit an improvised explosive on a dirt road in the tense region near the Afghan border and fell into a ravine, an official said on condition of anonymity in Rawalpindi, a city near the capital Islamabad where the army has its headquarters. The blast happened at Salwashti, a village near Wana, the main town in South Waziristan. The injured were taken to a military hospital in the town.
