Saudi newspapers highlighted in their editorials today a number of issues at local, regional and international arenas. Al-Riyadh newspaper reported in its editorial that the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, has described the year 2020 as an exceptional year in all fields, specifically on the level that concerns women. This came in his speech to the forum's Women 20 (W20) engagement group hosted by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. The paper said that Saudi Arabia has witnessed a whole slew of reforms including empowering women and making them an important and participant element along with men, in addition to assuming of leadership positions in various fields. The paper also said that the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques has also described women as the source of development for any society and the societies cannot be developed if there are no developed women. The paper added that the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques has confirmed that the women are half of society, educators of generations and they played great roles in their participation in the event over history. The paper added that the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques thanked the women who participated in the great efforts to confront Coronavirus pandemic and its impacts on societies, considering that a rate of 70% of those working in the health sector were women. The paper concluded that that Saudi Arabia has worked to achieve the United Nations sustainable development goals related to women at the international level, and sought to make women participated in the national development journey, which lead the international observers to praise this unprecedented step taken by Saudi Arabia. In another context, Al-Yaum newspaper reported in its editorial that the firm positions of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia towards all fair causes are recorded by history and confirmed by the present. The paper said that Saudi Arabia affirmed in a speech delivered by its Deputy Permanent Representative to the United Nations Dr. Khaled bin Muhammad Manzlawi within the work of the 2nd Economic and Financial Committee during the 75th session of the UN General Assembly, that peace, security and stability cannot be achieved for the Palestinian people without obtaining their legitimate rights. The paper concluded that Dr. Manzlawi stressed on Saudi Arabia's continuous defending of the Palestinian cause since era of the founder, King Abdulaziz bin Abdulrahman, until this prosperous era being led by the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz and His Royal Highness the Crown Prince.
