Nearly two million copies of the holy Qur'an were distributed inside and outside the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia upon directives of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Fahd bin Abdulaziz, it was announced here today. The announcement was made by the Minister of Islamic Affairs, Endowments, Call and Guidance Sheikh Salih bin Abdulaziz Al Alsheikh, who is also General Supervisor of King Fahd Complex for Printing the holy Qur'an. In his statement, the minister said the monarch has ordered that 1,947,578 copies of the holy book's versions and translations in five languages, the English, Urdu, French, Indonesian and Filipino, be distributed to call and guidance centers inside the Kingdom, the foreign communities and call bureaus outside the Kingdom, Islamic organizations and commissions, a number of government and private sector offices, and Saudi embassies and consulates outside.
