The U.N. Security Council is holding an emergency meeting later today on the escalating violence associated with Israel's offensive in the Gaza Strip and discussing an Arab-drafted resolution on the topic. Algeria's U.N. Ambassador Abdallah Baali, the only Arab member currently on the Security Council, requested the open meeting following the nearly week-long operation that has killed at least 65 Palestinians. "Taking into account the gravity, the urgency of the situation, the seriousness of the situation, we need to have the Security Council take a decision quickly-and quickly means tomorrow (Tuesday) at the latest," Baali said in a statement on Monday evening. --More 1140 Local Time 0840 GMT
