A land mine planted along a road exploded and killed at least three children and wounded two more after one of them picked it up Friday in a tense tribal region near Afghanistan, an army spokesman said. Maj. Gen. Shaukat Sultan said the children had been walking to school when one of them picked up "an explosive device planted by miscreants for sabotage purpose on a road" on the outskirts of Wana, the main town in South Waziristan.
