The European Union welcomed today the signing of the Riyadh Agreement between the Yemeni government and the Transitional Council. The Spokesman for the European External Action Service in Brussels said in a statement that the agreement between the Yemeni government and the Southern Transitional Council reached in Riyadh under the auspices of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia under the leadership of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud and His Royal Highness Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz, Crown Prince, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defense, is an essential step towards stopping escalation and peace for Yemen and the region. The statement stressed that the European Union encourages the signatories to take this opportunity to resume work for a lasting peace negotiated under the auspices of the United Nations.
