RIYADH — In a highly anticipated artistic event, Riyadh Season is set to host global cinema legend Anthony Hopkins for a live musical performance as part of its vibrant festivities. Turki Al-Sheikh, Chairman of the General Entertainment Authority in Saudi Arabia, announced that the world-renowned star will soon take part in what promises to be a historic musical evening in Riyadh. Sharing the news on his "X" platform, Al-Sheikh wrote, "A night like no other, with the immortal legend Anthony Hopkins in Riyadh Season soon." His post included a video message from Hopkins, who expressed his gratitude to Al-Sheikh and revealed that he has been working for months to compose a special musical piece to debut in Saudi Arabia's capital. Riyadh Season, now in its fifth edition since launching in October, will feature Anthony Hopkins—one of cinema's greatest icons— in a unique musical experience crafted specifically for this occasion. This marks a groundbreaking venture for the 85-year-old British actor, whose illustrious career includes standout roles that have earned him six Oscar nominations. Hopkins secured his first Academy Award for his chilling performance in The Silence of the Lambs (1991) and won again for his role in The Father (2021), making him the oldest actor to ever receive the accolade. Earlier this year, Hopkins was honored with the prestigious Lifetime Achievement Award at the Joy Awards ceremony in Riyadh. The event, attended by an array of international and Arab stars, celebrated his remarkable cinematic legacy. The ceremony featured highlights from his career before he accepted the award on stage from Turki Al-Sheikh himself. In his speech, Hopkins extended his heartfelt thanks to Saudi Arabia and its people, expressing his appreciation for the recognition and calling for peace and harmony worldwide.
