The revenues of the Saudi Arabian Airlines (SAA) from the first of January up to the end of June 2004 increased by 14 percent compared to the revenues of the same period last year. Dr Khaled Bakr, SAA's Director General said the new increase in the revenues stands as a witness for the success of the national airliner's marketing plan. 'This achievement comes despite the tremendous difficulties facing the aviation industry throughout the world', he noted. Dr Bakr pointed out that the Saudi Arabian Airlines is keen on presenting competitive fares and boosting its contribution to the transportation of pilgrims and Umrah (minor Hajj) performers in addition to an increase in the network of flights within the purview of the feasibility studies which had been earlier conducted by the Airline. On the other hand, Dr Bakr said SAA is keen on benefiting from the capabilities of the e-commerce in the development of its services. He noted that the increase in the revenues coincided with the increase in the number of its passengers during the same period. 'As many as 7,325,035 passengers were transported by SAA in the same period', he said noting that this figure is higher by 14 percent compared to the figure of passengers in the same period last year.
