A U.S. soldier was killed early Sunday when an improvised bomb exploded in northern Baghdad, the military announced. The blast went off about 1:30 a.m., the military said in a statement. No other soldiers were wounded, it said. The name of the deceased soldier was being withheld until the next of kin could be informed.
