U.S. Secretary of State Colin Powell has phoned Pakistan Foreign Minister Khurshid Mehmood Kasuri during the latter's visit to Iran, according to an official statement. Powell expressed satisfaction at the progress achieved in various issues in the composite dialogue so far between India and Pakistan. According to the statement, Kasuri said that Pakistan was wedded to a dialogue process aimed at achieving peace and security in the region. He noted that the lasting peace would only be possible with the resolution of all the outstanding issues between Pakistan and India including the issue of Jammu and Kashmir. Kasuri thanked Powell for the interest taken by the US Administration in Pakistan-India dialogue. He said he looked forward to his talks with his Indian counterpart in New Delhi next month.
