Jorge Martin Arturo Arguello, Chairman of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the Lower House of Argentinean Parliament, has met Foreign Minister Khurshid M. Kasuri, according to an official statement. Kasuri expressed satisfaction over strengthening of relations between Pakistan and Argentina marked by growing bilateral exchanges and expanding cooperation in diverse fields. Arguello was accompanied by Federico Pinedo another member of Argentinean Parliament and Secretary of the Argentine Foreign Relations Committee of the Chamber of Deputies. Kasuri appreciated the efforts being made by Pakistan and Argentina for strengthening and deepening bilateral relationship and opening avenues of cooperation. He said that increasing exchange of high-level bilateral visits was leading to concrete cooperation in various areas. The foreign minister underlined the need to continue these exchanges to build up a long-term cooperative relationship between the two countries. He emphasized that the exchange of parliamentary delegations was an effective way to develop harmony of views on important issues and promote people to people contacts. Briefing the Chairman of the Foreign Relations Committee of the Argentine Parliament on the situation in the region, Kasuri said that Pakistan was firmly committed to promoting peace and stability in the region. He also briefed him on the progress in the composite dialogue with India aimed at addressing all outstanding issues including the issue of Jammu and Kashmir. Arguello informed Kasuri that his visit to Pakistan was productive as it provided an opportunity for interaction with a wide cross section of Parliamentarians and officials. He indicated that as a result of his meetings the two countries were in the process of establishing Parliamentary Friendship Groups between the Argentine Chamber of Deputies and the National Assembly of Pakistan to enhance cooperation between the parliaments of the two countries. Foreign Minister lauded this development.
