The Vice Chairperson of the European Parliament's Foreign Relations Committee, Baroness Emma Nicholson, who has been appointed by the European Parliament to write a report on Jammu and Kashmir, has met Pakistan Foreign Minister Khurshid Mahmoud Kasuri, says an official statement. Talking to her, the foreign minister urged the European Union to remain engaged on the Kashmir issue to use its influence on the stakeholders to push the peace process forward. He briefed her on recent developments on Pakistan-India relations with particular emphasis on the Jammu and Kashmir issue. Kasuri emphasized that Pakistan had shown great sincerity and flexibility in the Composite Dialogue process towards finding a just and peaceful final settlement to the Kashmir dispute, which would be acceptable to Pakistan, India and the Kashmiri people. The foreign minister also briefed Baroness Nicholson on Pakistan's position on a wide range of international issues including Afghanistan, Iran's nuclear issue and the Middle East. Baroness Nicholson expressed her appreciation to the foreign minister for the useful discussion and said that she looked forward to the remainder of her visit, which she felt would be extremely productive and useful.
