Pakistan and China launched their first-ever four-day anti-terrorism military exercise from Tuesday, officials said. The exercise started near the Sino-Pak border in Taxkorgan Tajik Autonomous County, northwest China's Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region. Code-named Youyi (Friendship)-2004, the exercise was participated by China's People's Liberation Army (PLA) and the Armed Forces of Pakistan, officials said. During the exercise, there was a live firing and use of most advanced weapons, giving joint demonstration of anti-terrorism operation. The exercise will help strengthen cooperation between the two countries and armies to improve their capacity to combat terrorism and crack down on the forces of separatism and terrorism. The exercise will also give boost to bilateral cooperation in non-traditional security field and maintain security and stability in the region, officials said.
