The Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) General Secretariat calls upon the Member States and all humanitarian organizations both within and outside the Islamic World, as well as international organizations, to urgently extend immediate humanitarian assistance to Afghanistan, which has been suffering from a devastating drought for several months that has left a large number of internally displaced people in dire need for food, shelter and other emergency assistance. The OIC General Secretariat launches this urgent appeal to OIC Member States to extend immediate humanitarian aid to the Afghan people, to display solidarity with the victims of the drought who are in need of urgent assistance in the face of this major livelihood crisis. The OIC General Secretariat's appeal for relief to Afghanistan comes within the framework of the Resolution on the "Situation of Afghanistan" adopted by the 45th Session of the Conference of Foreign Ministers held in Dhaka, on 5-6 May 2018 that reiterates the OIC's commitment to provide all forms of support and assistance to mitigate the suffering of the Afghan people.
