The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia won today a seat in the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) Council during the Plenipotentiary Conference of ITU, currently being held in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. A total of 48 out of the 193 Member States of the ITU were elected to serve as members of the ITU Council for the next four years, where the Kingdom was elected unanimously, and has maintained its membership in the Council since 1965. On this occasion, Engineer Abdullah bin Amer Al-Sawaha, Minister of Communications and Information Technology, Chairman of Board of Directors of Communications and Information Technology Commission congratulated the Government of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia on this winning. In a related context, Engineer Tariq bin Mohammed Al-Omari representing the Kingdom was unanimously elected as a member of the ITU Radio Regulations Board (RRB).
