An international symposium on "Situations of Educational, Cultural and Media Institutions in Yemen: Violations and Protection Mechanisms" begans here today at the headquarters of Islamic Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (ISESCO), co-organized by ISESCO and the Embassy of the Republic of Yemen in the Kingdom of Morocco. The event was attended by a number of experts and specialists in international law and human rights, as well as representatives of a number of local, Arab and international media. During a speech at the opening session, ISESCO Director-General Dr. Abdulaziz bin Othman Al-Twaijri said that the whole world knows that Yemen, for more than three years, has been suffering from Houthi militias that targeted its sovereignty, security and independence, pointing out that these militias are supported and directed by foreign parties. The symposium program included presentations on the current developments in Yemen in light of violations on Yemeni educational and cultural institutions and impact of the war on education and culture. It also included mechanisms of protecting Yemeni educational and cultural institutions within the framework of joint Arab and Islamic action.
