The Secretary General of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), Dr. Youssef Al-Othaimeen condemned in the strongest terms the heinous and cowardly terrorist attacks on worshippers during afternoon prayers at a Mosque in Mubi, Adamawa State, Northeastern Nigeria which was carried out on Tuesday, 1st May 2018 by members of Boko Haram terrorist group, leading to the death of 27 people and injury of dozens of other worshippers. In a statement to Saudi Press Agency (SPA), the OIC Secretary General expressed his deepest sympathy and condolences to the families of the victims and to the Government of the Federal Republic of Nigeria over this tragedy, wishing the injured a speedy and full recovery. He underlined the need to apprehend the perpetrators, organizers, financers and sponsors of these reprehensible acts of terrorism accountable by bringing them to justice, and urged the citizens to continue to cooperate actively with the authorities in this regard. Dr. Al Othaimeen reaffirmed that terrorism in all its forms and manifestations constitute a serious threat to peace and security of the region, and pledged OIC's full support for Nigeria in its efforts to eradicate the menace.
