The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has affirmed its continuing support for the implementation of the outcomes of the World Summit on the Information Society (WSIS) emanating from its belief in the extreme significance of its outputs and contribution to the achievement of sustainable development goals. This came in the Kingdom's speech at the United Nations during the meeting of the Second Committee on Science and Technology for Development within the 72nd session of the United Nations General Assembly delivered by the third secretary of the Kingdom's Permanent Delegation to the United Nations Badr Al-Qarni. He pointed out that the communication and information technology (CIT) market in the Kingdom is one of the largest telecommunications markets in the region, noting that the volume of expenditures on CIT services amounted to about $ 35 billion in 2016 at an estimated growth rate of 8% compared to the year 2015.
