Saudi newspapers highlighted in their editorials today a number of issues at local, regional and international arenas. Al-Youm newspaper commented on the fall of the helicopter of the Saudi armed forces while performing its operational duties in the province of Marib, saying that the martyrdom of a number of officers and non-commissioned officers was for the sake of defeating Al-Houthi and Saleh coup militias who want to turn Yemen into a sectarian and Persian land. Al-Riyadh newspaper commented on the same topic, quoting US Secretary of Defense James Mattis as saying, "We should find a political solution through negotiations mediated by the United Nations to end the conflict in Yemen." Al-Sharq newspaper noted that the battles for returning the legitimacy between the coalition forces and Al-Houthi and ousted Saleh's coup militias led to killing more than 7,500 people and wounding 38,000 others in all provinces that have witnessed field confrontations since March 2015 according to United Nations reports issued by the end of November 2016, indicating that Iran supports Al-Houthis to increase their persistence and intransigence in not bowing to peaceful solutions.
