The Amman-based Palestinian National Council called on the international community to work quickly to coerce Israel to end its brutal aggression on the West Bank and Gaza Strip. In a press statement issued Saturday on the occasion of the 27th anniversary of the Declaration of Palestine Independence document, the Council stressed that the Palestinian people are engaged in popular resistance in order to achieve the independence and end the occupation, pointing out that the Palestinian people look forward to Arab and Islamic governments, parliaments and peoples to expedite providing Palestinians with the necessary support in order to enhance their steadfastness and struggle in confronting the Israeli occupation and aggression. It also called on the international community to intervene to achieve peace and provide immediate protection for the Palestinian people, stressing that the peace could be achieved only by ending the occupation.
