UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon was due Monday to discuss Europe's migration crisis with Italian Prime Minister Matteo Renzi aboard one of the ships engaged in Mediterranean Sea rescues, dpa reported. EU foreign policy chief Federica Mogherini, a former Italian foreign minister, was also slated to be aboard the San Giusto Italian Navy vessel, along with Ban and Renzi. The Italian coast guard and navy, as well as passing cargo ships, rescue hundreds of Europe-bound boat migrants every day. Following a shipwreck in which 800 are feared to have died, the European Union last week agreed to boost its own sea patrols in the Mediterranean.
