A bomb squad inspected a recycling plant in Illinois on Monday after an explosion killed two people and injured at least one. Authorities in Granite City, Illinois said a mortar round went off at the Totall Metal Recycling plant, and police waited hours before collecting the victims in fear of another explosion. It was not clear what caused the blast yet, but the company does recycle computers, automobiles, and ammunition, according to the company's website. The Illinois Secretary of State spokesman Henry Haupt said that bomb squad was dispatched to the scene to ensure "there are no other explosive or dangerous devices and, if there are, to render them safe."
