A group of hitmen killed eight people in the early hours of Tuesday outside a morgue in the northern Honduran city of San Pedro Sula, police said. The masked men arrived at the morgue in two vehicles and started shooting. The victims were apparently waiting to be handed the body of a man who had himself suffered a violent death hours earlier, police said. At least four others suffered serious wounds in the attack. Authorities said at least five of the dead belonged to the same family. According to Honduran media reports, three members of that family had already been violently killed in the nearby city of Puerto Cortes. Regarded as a stronghold for powerful youth gangs, San Pedro Sula is a city of about 1 million people 250 kilometres away from Honduran capital Tegucigalpa. With 187 homicides per 100,000 residents, it is the world's most dangerous city outside of warzones, according to the Mexican NGO Security, Justice and Peace. -- SPA 22:05 LOCAL TIME 19:05 GMT تغريد
