Twenty-one people were killed Monday in an attack by suspected militants in the southern Philippines, authorities said. Eleven people including two children aged 3 and 9 were also injured in the attack on Jolo island, 1,000 kilometers south of Manila, dpa quoted a police report as saying. The dead included five children, said Captain Maria Rowena Muyuela, a regional military spokeswoman. The victims included village security volunteers who could have been the target of the attack, Muyuela added.
