A town vice mayor and his security aide were killed in an attack by unidentified gunmen in the southern Philippines, the military said Monday. Adjili Abbas, vice mayor of Pata town on Jolo island, 1,000 kilometers south of Manila, was killed with an unidentified security aide on Saturday just in front of his house. Brigadier General Agustin Demaala said Abbas and his security aide ran outside after they heard gunshots. "When the victims went out of the house to check on the gunfire, the unidentified suspects opened fire at them, killing them instantly," he said.
