Pakistani fighter jets killed 28 militants in fresh airstrikes targeting their hideouts in the north-west, the military claimed Sunday, as troops recaptured parts of a second key town controlled by Taliban insurgents. War planes bombed six hideouts used by local and foreign militants in the Shawal area of North Waziristan tribal district near the Afghan border, dpa quoted an army statement as saying. A soldier was also killed in gun battles between the advancing troops and militants around Mirali, one of the two key towns that served as a major hideout for the Taliban.
