Saudi Ambassador and its permanent representative to the United Nations in Geneva Faisal Trad delivered a speech yesterday at the Human Rights Council in response to accusations of the Syrian regime's delegate who accused the kingdom of being the cause of human suffering of the Syrian people. He said in the speech, "Perhaps it is appropriate to remind the representative of the Syrian regime that we are here to discuss and condemn the Syrian regime's acts of terrorism, killing and displacement in flagrant violation of all human rights and in the worst suffering of a peaceful people throughout history. International reports, the report of International Commission of Inquiry on the situation of human rights in Syria and the free world have said enough for the world to know which is the terrorist regime that kills its people." He added, "Here, I would like to emphasize my demand yesterday at your esteemed Council to send the final report on the war crimes committed by Bashar al-Assad, his regime and his associates to the Security Council and the General Assembly to establish an appropriate mechanism for its submission to international justice." The delegate of the kingdom said, "I apologize to you and your esteemed council for having to listen again to the lies and allegations of the Syrian regime against my country which has been and is still doing all that dictated by human conscience to help the Syrian people through the provision of humanitarian support and food for the homeless and refugees in neighboring countries, with the total of what has been spent so far reaching about USD480 million all of which through the mechanisms adopted by the United Nations. After three years of the suffering of the Syrian people, I'm sure that the distinguished Human Rights Council has become immune to these desperate attempts by the Syrian regime to distract attention away from its ugly truth as a terrorist regime torturing its people." The Saudi ambassador called for deletion of these false claims from the minutes of the meeting. --More 14:06 LOCAL TIME 11:06 GMT تغريد
