Secretary General of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) Iyad Ameen Madani has strongly condemned the deadly attack on the Federal Parliament of Somalia on 24 May 2014 by suicide bombers and gunmen which resulted in the death of eight people. The Secretary General who termed the incident as a heinous crime targeting all Somalis and their legitimate aspirations for democracy, peace and progress, cannot be justified under any circumstance. He further added that the attack goes against the spirit and teachings of the peaceful religion of Islam. The Secretary General, while expressing his solidarity with Somalia, reiterated the OIC's firm support to the country in its endeavor to build a stable and prosperous future. He conveyed his sincere condolences to the families of the victims and urged the authorities to bring the perpetrators to justice.
