The Secretary General of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) Iyad Ameen Madani has condemned the bomb attack on 1st January 2014 on an hotel in Mogadishu which killed a dozen of innocent people and injured score of others. The Secretary General who described the incident as criminal and cowardly, presented his condolences to the families of the victims, the government and people of Somalia. He prayed for the quick recovery of those injured. While reiterating the full solidarity of the OIC with the authorities in Somalia in their endeavors to combat the continuing menace of extremism and terrorism which negate the compassionate values of Islam, the Secretary General called on them to identify the perpetrators and bring them to justice. He also urged them not to be deterred in their efforts to restore durable peace and stability to Somalia.
