A 61-year-old British teacher was stabbed to death on Monday at a school in the northern city of Leeds, dpa reported. A 15-year-old pupil at Corpus Christi Catholic College, who is suspected of having killed the teacher in front of other pupils, was detained by members of the teaching staff and later arrested by police. Anna Maguire, a Spanish teacher described by pupils as popular, sustained a number of stab wounds just before noon (1100 GMT). She was taken to hospital and subsequently pronounced dead. Police confirmed that the attack was an isolated incident and that the motive for the crime remained unclear.
