Unemployment in Germany fell by more than forecast in February as the pickup in Europe's biggest economy encouraged hiring, dpa cited data released Thursday by the labour office as showing. The monthly seasonally adjusted numbers of those out of work dropped by 14,000 to 2.914 million in February. The jobless rate remained stable at 6.8 per cent. In seasonally unadjusted terms, unemployment jumped by 2,000 to push the numbers out of work to 3.138 million. The unadjusted jobless rate held steady at 7.3 per cent in February.
