German unemployment unexpectedly fell in February, despite the slowdown in Europe's biggest economy, data released Thursday showed. The labour office said the seasonally-adjusted number of people out of work had dropped by 3,000 month-on-month to 2.917 million. Analysts had expected a stagnation in the labour market after a contraction in the economy in the final quarter of 2012. In seasonally unadjusted terms, the numbers out of work rose by 18,000 to 3.156 million in February. The unadjusted unemployment rate remained unchanged at 7.4 per cent, the labour office said.
