Saudi newspapers highlighted in their editorials today a number of regional and international issues. Three newspapers: Al-Sharq, Al-Madinah and Al-Youm devoted their editorials to the coverage of Geneva II. Al-Sharq drew the attention that the real negotiations between the delegations of Syrian government and opposition start in Geneva today with the Syrian regime stranded by the free world to coerce it to make concessions. The paper suggested that either the Syrian regime accepts Geneva II resolutions and steps down with some remnants work with the opposition to secure a political transition of power or it rejects this rare opportunity which the UN Secretary General described as historic. In the last scenario, war might prolong for years and send hazardous signals to the region at large. The paper said the option of entering negotiations without accepting the principles is the current tactic of Damascus, according to statements coming from its delegation. --More 13:46 LOCAL TIME 10:46 GMT تغريد
