The Fourth News Agencies World Congress (IV-NAWC) continued here today at Ritz Carlton Hotel in presence of Abdullah bin Fahd Al-Hussain, President of the Saudi Press Agency (SPA), directors of news agencies in the world and officials of communication and information technology institutions. The fourth session discussed "capitalizing on new opportunities" and experiences of some agencies. Clive Marshall, CEO of Press Association Group, as moderator; and Luis Enrique Gonzalez, Chief editor of Cuba Agency, Tony Gillies, Editor in chief of Australian Associated press, Alberto Emaldi, Vocal Director of TALAM News Agency, Cagatay Clcuoglu, Deputy Director General of Anadolu Agency, Jose Chimuco, Executive Director for Information of ANGOP Angola, as speakers, participated in the session. At the outset of the session, Jose Chimuco stressed importance of the agencies' work in the coming phase, represented in searching for new opportunities, in order to keep pace with the technological renaissance. He added that "we have to maintain great gains which the agencies acquired during a long period." For his part, Luis Enrique Gonzalez said that the news agencies of the Latin continent established a federation of agencies aiming to defend the interests of the continent and the role of the news agencies.
