President of the Saudi Press Agency (SPA) Abdullah bin Fahd Al-Hussein, who is also Chairman of the 4th News Agencies World Congress (NAWC) announced that more than 70 news agencies from all over the world and 30 speakers specialized in the media and information technology and communications are taking part in the 4th News Agencies World Congress (IV-NAWC) to be hosted by the Kingodm of Saudi Arabia in the city of Riyadh from 17 to 21 November 2013 under the theme "Re-formation of a News Agency in the 21st Century". Addressing a press conference at Riyadh Ritz Carlton hotel to mark the kick off of the 4th News Agencies World Congress (IV-NAWC) on Monday, Al-Hussein asserted that the conference is amont the world's most important information events as it will attract senior officials of news agencies, and organizations and institutions in the field of information, communication technologies from the five continents. He added that the conference aims at guaranteeing the improvement of the ability of performance of news agencies as they are the key producers of news in the world despite the emergence of new media means. It also aims at enhancing their roles in giving objective and non-biased coverage, protecting the media production from piracy, widening the public awareness of the role journalists are doing behind the scenes, using the media state-of-the-art means and methods and protecting journalists on life-threatening duty in tense sites. Al-Hussein pointed that his organization has extended to 112 news agencies to attend this event, as well as senior officials of specialized organizations and institutions in the feild of communication technologies which have specialzied experiences in the field of finroatmion exchanges, noting that the great media gathering will definitely further enrich discussions which will tremendously bolster the roles of news agencies in information industry and their future expectations in the 21st century.
