AlHijjah 1, 1434, Oct 6, 2013, SPA -- Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz Al Saud will patronize the Fourth News Agencies World Congress (IV-NAWC), which will be hosted by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia represented by the Saudi Press Agency during the period from 13 to 17 Muharram 1435 AH corresponding to 17 to 21 November 2013 in the city of Riyadh.
The three-day conference will be held under the title of "Reshaping the News Agency in the 21st Century" in the presence of international news agencies and thirty speakers from different continents of the world representing the figures of the media and modern information and communication technologies media.
This was announced by Minister of Culture and Information and Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Saudi Press Agency Commission Dr. Abdulaziz bin Mohieddin Khoja.
In a statement to Saudi Press Agency, the minister expressed his sincere thanks and gratitude to the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques for patronizing the conference which will be held in the kingdom by a unanimous decision by the World Council of News Agencies, pointing to the importance of holding this conference at a time of huge revolution in the field of communication and exchange of information technology which increased the pace of competition among various media for information access and dissemination.
The minister said that the Fourth News Agencies World Congress aims at improving the performance of the agencies which remain the main news producer in the world despite the emergence of new media. He added that the conference also aims at enhancing the agencies' role in the dissemination of non-aligned objective news, protection of their work from piracy, expansion of public perception of reporters on the backgrounds of transmitted news, absorption of the developments of modern media tools and methods and protection of journalists working in dangerous areas.
The Minister stated that the Saudi Press Agency invited 112 news agencies to attend the Riyadh conference.
