AlHijjah 19, 1434, Oct 24, 2013, SPA -- The Secretary General of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) Prof Ekmeleddin Ihsanoglu has called for calm and restraint in Mozambique following the recent rising tension and break down in dialogue between the government and the former RENAMO rebel group. In a statement issued today by the OIC, Prof Ihsanoglu who expressed grave concern at the repudiation by RENAMO of the 1992 peace accord which ended the civil war in that country, appealed to the two parties to resume dialogue and seek a negotiated settlement of their differences. He also urged them to avoid any return to hostilities but to strive to consolidate the peace and development that Mozambique has witnessed in the past two decades.
